Abstract:
The enforement of the status of the ICC takes an important step towards the prosecution of international crimes committed by individuals. The court has jurisdiction under both rights-related crimes as with the international humanitarian law, but the court's jurisdiction is complementary to national jurisdictions. These factors imply important relationships between international law and national laws, particularly in criminal matters, a context typically reserved for national powers. This paper raises and discusses some issues relating to this complex relationship.
