Abstract:
This thesis involves the mathematical and numerical study of several model problems
related to the industrial manufacture of the confectionery product known as "Chewits".
As the name suggests, this product is a soft, chewy, sweet which is available in several
fruit flavours. It is manufactured by Leaf(UK), who partly sponsored the study through
an EPSRC CASE award
